Does your city have a drug problem? Chicago may have the solution: Ban the bags they are sold in.

Cause you know, if the package is illegal, that will stop drug dealers.

“Oh me, Oh my! I’m so sorry. I can’t sell you any more cocaine. I’m not allowed to package it in little baggies any longer. Looks like I’ll have to go find other work. Do you know if McDonald’s is hiring?”

Yeah, right.

Recently Republitarian had a lively thread going about drug use.  Unfortunately it quickly descended into insults and little actual discussion took place. I found that very disappointing since it is a topic I had been wanting to talk about for some time now.

A few weeks ago Phil posted an online political quiz and it contained a question about drug use.  Seems all quizzes of this type ask at least one question about legalizing drugs or enforcing laws against their use.

One part of me wants to say the government has no business telling adults what they can and can’t do to their own bodies.* Another part of me says, “Wait a minute, who’s going to clean up after these people?”

Is it really a choice involving only their own bodies when the rest of us are stuck paying for the undesirable effects?

*Let’s not get into abortion on this thread. I already know some people feel that an abortion is a choice a woman should be able to make about her own body.Others feel it involves two bodies, the woman’s and the baby’s. This thread is about drugs not abortion.
